Birthday baking... Two cakes this year

Today has been a dedicated bake day... Just as well with all the rain outside!

I have baked my eldest two cakes this year... Well he is turning ten! Not everybody likes a chocolate cake :(

No1 was this Banana cake with a boiled icing and pecans

The boiled icing excited me quite alot as ive never tried it before... I have seen them do it on GBBO so thought i'd give it a whirl 😁

The second cake is a oreo cake with chocolate... Lots of chocolate on the top!  My son specifically asked for a chocolate cake this year.

Plum jam is on th horizon... It is currently awaiting a good bubble in the pan

 

I have used plums from our tree, An apple and some raspberries and ive added in a dash of mixed spice too!

I shall add the jam inbetween the layers of a layer cake which im making in a week or so!

Smells delicious!
